WHAT IS LIP NEUTRALIZATION?

The process of balancing the natural color of the lips. It is a technique used to neutralize any unwanted undertones or discoloration in the lips, such as dark spots, uneven pigmentation, or bluish or purplish hues.

How Long Does Lip Neutralization Last?

Typically, this technique will lasts 1-3 years and will gradually lighten and fade over time, until your lips slowly return to their natural hue.

What Is Lip Neutralization Process Like?

When you arrive at Radiant Ink, we’ll start with a thorough consultation. We’ll look at your natural lip color and undertones, talk about your goals, and choose pigments that will gently brighten and even out your lips.

Once all your questions are answered, we’ll numb your lips to keep you comfortable. After mapping and outlining your shape, we begin carefully layering corrective pigment to neutralize darker or cool areas and create a more balanced tone.

Your appointment includes a deluxe aftercare kit, and we’ll go over step-by-step instructions before you leave. The full session usually takes around 3 hours from start to finish.

Do I Need a Touchup?

Yes. With lip neutralization, multiple sessions are very normal, especially for deeper or more cool-toned lips. Most clients have their first touch-up 6–8 weeks after the initial appointment.

It’s common for color to fade 40–50% in the first month as your lips heal. The touch-up session is usually shorter than the first and lets us deepen the color, even out any areas that healed lighter, and keep moving toward your target shade.

Please keep in mind that some clients need up to 3 sessions to reach their desired result. Temporary hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation can happen as the skin adjusts, but this is usually part of the normal healing process and settles over time.

How Long Does It Take to Heal?

Healing time is different for every permanent makeup client. Usually, it takes about 7-10 days for the epithelial crust to form and flake off.

The pigment will then take some time to settle into the skin, a good month should pass and be enough time for the color to "bloom"
